Chick FilA

Last night we had a fundraiser at our local Chick FilA. I got the idea as we had attended one for an adopting friend last year, and thought it was a great idea! We handed out flyers at church,at Bennett's school, at my school, on FB, through email, through Scott's work... We made a LOT of flyers and we handed out a LOT of them! I went into it with a dollar amount as a goal, and just prayed hard that the word would be spread and people would come and eat!

And come they did! We arrived a few minutes before 5:00, the start time, and there were people there waiting to eat:) (kids were in the play area). People started coming hard and fast by 5:15, and from then until 6:45 or 7:00 it was standing room only! Friends in the drive thru told me it took them 15-20 minutes... It was BUSY! But in a great and wonderful way! A, B, and E were all really well behaved, and I barely saw A and B- they were having too much fun playing with friends:) It was so wonderful and special to us that so many people we know came out to support us, and so many people that we DON'T know came out as well! The kids teachers at Awana, from previous years of school, old students of mine, some whom I hadn't seen in years... people we know well to those we may have met once or twice... It was insane! I tried to greet each person I recognized, and I am sorry if I missed someone in there. But know, you are all so appreciated! This was a fabulous and exhausting night, like hosting a huge party yet without having to cook or clean up;) We are very thankful to the good people of Chick Filet! They know about adoption at our location, as the owner's son is also an adoptive parent. He was there to witness it all, and I had a really nice, uplifting conversation with him as well. We met a handful of supportive strangers, including a delightful man from Congo! He was thrilled with what we were doing and we exchanged contact information- I am sure he will be a good resource if we have questions.
God is good. We heard that we had 240 transactions, and raised nearly double of our hoped for amount! One step closer... One step closer.
