I am enough

We had a yard sale this weekend to raise funds for the adoption. I felt stressed all week, not enough help at times with kids and organizing, etc.
We were planning the sale to be Saturday and Sunday, but early in the week (after a small earthquake) we were told a hurricane was coming our way this weekend. "Great timing, God!" I kept thinking, as this yard sale event had been in the works with this date planned for months! We decided to get into gear and get things started Friday afternoon. Friday was a whirlwind... Last minute donations, sorting, hanging, set-up... I roped two people who were stopping to drop donations into helping me!! (One I have met only twice, and is a co-worker of Scott's. I was stressed!) Having 3 needy kids running around was not helping my mind nor my ability to get things set up, but it was working out. And people started coming. And help came, too! We had a great afternoon, and nice to be organized for the start of Saturday morning...

Saturday morning came early at 5:30, and thankfully 3 fine ladies came to help set up and organize some more before the sale. It was 6:15 and still dark, and it was so hot and humid I was sweating. The humidity turned to mist. The mist to drizzle, and I was thankful no one could see my tears of frustration! All that work for it to rain and people to not come?! I prayed and continued to set up. And it dried up, and the darkness left. And people came. And more helpers came! Business was good, and people were encouraging and supportive. It was nice to be able to share with others about what we were doing, and hear some of their stories as well! The clouds were ever present, and then the wind kicked up and it started to slowly get wetter and wetter... We packed up, made a few more sales, and by noon it was over. It wasn't enough. We had so much left! We cleaned up, got the kids all settled, and counted the money. God said to me later "You may not think it is enough, but I am enough". And He is right!!!

I am so very thankful for all of our friends who made the day a success! All the helpers, all the donators! I am very thankful for the hours of good weather that we had! I am very thankful for the supportive community in which we live! I am very thankful for our family, and children who were so good and helpful for the most part! I am so thankful for a home that was able to support the event, despite unfavorable weather conditions! I am thankful, and God is enough!
