The first call

Since being handed our license for foster care, we have heard nothing. We got a few pieces of bulk mail, but until today, there were no calls. We/I am on so many county call lists for my business and kid's schools that the phone rings often with Fairfax County in the call line and always makes my heart skip a beat. Do I WANT this to be a call to foster? Do I want to add MORE to our chaotic lives? And then when it is not, I get the sense of relief and disappointment.
This afternoon I saw the county call come in, and she stated she was calling on behalf of the foster care division. My tummy starting flip flopping! She said a family came up in Reston and she saw we were in Reston but hadn't had a chance to read through our homestudy (see what was a good match for us). Well, this was a group of 3 under 3, so not something we could do, BUT sometimes they have to separate the children, so she said she will be calling back for us to take one of they need to be split!
Just this weekend we were given some baby gear from a friend who was holding it for us- just in case- so how crazy would that timing be if we were then handed a baby to fill it? The kids were all excited to see the gear, and were disappointed that there was no baby to go in it, but time will tell...
I am getting all excited and nervous and playing scenarios in my head. It is kind of like dating/being interested in a boy in school, how you would play over every conversation and every move so you would be prepared, and then when the time came nothing happened at all like any scenario you had imagined. Or maybe it is nothing like that- but all in God's hands!
I am thankful the county has our information to use if they need us. Until then, we will not be bored with our current family of 7!
