In early October I heard my neighbor was in the process of fostering to adopt a child. I was really excited for her, and very intrigued. Being a foster parent, and potentially adopting a child, has been something I have wanted to do for many years- ever since I was a teenager and I babysat for some amazing foster children. This idea had been lightly simmering on the backburner, as we have been busy having our own kids and not really thinking about those that I didn't have to carry in my womb, but then the idea came back to light. I started giving it serious thought again! I always said I wanted to have kids 3 and 4 close together, and knowing that the process doesn't happen overnight I wanted to hear more!
The following week a lady in my Mom's Group sent out a post about an informational adoption dinner, including anyone interested in fostering to adopt. Well, hey! Kind of a sign from God there! I brought all my thoughts to Scott, and he got on board with checking out the options! So we are now scheduled to attend a dinner next Friday night...
The next day I spoke more with my neighbor as she was jogging by, and she was highly encouraging and then my mind just started to go wild. We really have no idea what the future holds, but I am so excited about the possibilities! I lay at night dreaming of the precious little child that I pray one day will be one of our own.
I have all sorts of crazy feelings and thoughts, so decided to start a blog about the journey that I hope we will continue on. I am sure there will be ups and downs, joys and frustrations- both with "the system" as well as our own children and any who may be placed in our home. We are already looking forward to welcoming our 3rd child into the family at the beginning of February, and my internal plan is to hopefully be done with the process and at least on our way to giving a child a home by the end of next calendar year. But God has His own plans, and I just pray for patience as He leads us down the road!
