Our computer just failed to turn on about 2 weeks ago. Dead. Our wise friend checked it over, and since it was over 7 years old not worth fixing, so we got a new one pretty inexpensively. When it came it sat in the box, as I don't do electronics (and neither does Scott), so thankfully wise friend Andrew came to hook us up. New technology scares me and I would rather not mess anything up.
I went to use it for the first time and it was not "right". No stored passwords, no toolbar full of goodies, no bookmarks, not uploading/transferring photos the same... it was not conformed to ME yet. Which made me think of adoption (at this point it is hard for me to find a topic that DOESN'T make me think of adoption/my dear kiddos, but you may get this one, too!)
Adopted children are "scary". I have never dealt with orphans before, and it is really easier to just leave them "in the box". But we are bringing them to our home, and opening up that box that is very unknown to me. We open it up, and want them to be conformed to us. We want all the buttons in an easy to find place. We want to know how to make them laugh, how to make them sleep, how to make them eat, how to make them LOVE US, how to get them to fit into our lives. We want it to be easy and done. But it is not. We have to sit down and work at it. And work at it. Add things to our days here, take things from our day there, and still it does not always fit. It will never be like it was before. The old life we had will never be back! But we are on to the IMPROVED life as God intended, so we better get used to it!
Now back to wage war with the new computer to make it more user friendly. Best to get it sorted out before they come home in 2 weeks!!!
