Vacations

The past few weeks we have had 3 calls! The first was a long respite for two girls that didn't work as we had two trips planned during that time. Not a big deal, and no disappointment. Then we got a call about an emergency placement for a little boy, but we were going out of town the next morning. We also were asked about a short respite for two wee ones that would have fit perfectly with our plans, but then the foster moms' trip fell through (but we are planning to potentially respite these two later in July). We then got a call back about that emergency placement, as the family who was able to take him had to go away for a week, and they wondered if we could take him, but guess what, we were going away again?! This is only ironic as we never go anywhere! We go to the beach frequently, but we can take an extra child there with us, but these two trips were not able to add an extra child and were scheduled as these are some of my free weeks I get all year before I start work again after the 4th of July. Just bad timing. I would have been VERY happy to take in the little boy, and it was such a crazy story of how he came to need a home in the first place, but again, it was not meant to be. It would most likely not have been a long placement anyway, as he was removed from his mom while traveling internationally and mom was taken to a hospital here where she needs to stay an extended time, and they were still trying to locate relatives, etc, and he just needed a safe place until it all could be sorted out. Poor kid, but I guess kids in foster care never really have a HAPPY story of why they are where they are. So again, we just wait and see.

After Thursday, we have no trips scheduled except for Labor day weekend that we can not easily accommodate another child. And Labor Day we COULD, just not ideal....

Zuri asked me today if she could have a playdate with Baby J. Just not that easy, but I miss her, too!!
