We loved baby B who turned into toddler B, but the age is difficult! When newborn baby I came along I was worried as little ones can be a lot of work, but for an infant he was the best!! He went through a period of about a week where he had reflux and was a bit fussy, but once I switched formula and got him medication, he was back to being the happiest thing on the block and I am SO IN LOVE. He started smiling these big huge gummy smiles at me and then laughing and each time it melted my heart! But raising 7 children was taking its toll and it seemed that things with grandparents were moving in a backward direction. With a month to go until summer vacation (which kicked off with a trip to the beach), I gave my notice as foster mom. Now I would have worked with the county if need be, but I basically said to approve grandparents and move the kids by June 14, or find a foster family interested in adopting the boys by same date. I heard nothing from my social worker for over a week, at which point I took it to her supervisor. Lo and behold, a fire got put under her butt and BAM. Boys moved in with Grandparents on June 13.
This was both a big relief and very sad at the same time! We love the boys, but we needed some more freedom this summer to just DO STUFF that having TWO babies really hampered- and they had family waiting for them, jumping through all the hoops being asked! I didn't throw in the towel because I was tired. I laid the towel down gently so the boys could roll across it into waiting arms. And I would certainly not change a thing. We were fortunate to love baby B for almost 10 month, and baby I for 11 weeks. We have a good relationship with their family and hope to stay in touch and see them soon, whether to just visit or provide respite (did I mention that two babies is a lot of work for anyone?!). God is good. He did not give us more than we could handle, and he provided in all ways, Again.
