When people read that I am sure different things pop into their heads. As I was driving down the road last week I saw it on a bumper sticker, with a picture of Obama... Not my personal envisionment really (and yes, I made that word up!)...
Some members of church started a new mission called HOPE, which is an orphan ministry. It started with a message from the pulpit, and 3 events in the bulletin. One was an adoption seminar with lots of info, another was a ministry opportunity to organize and pack up thousands of meals to ship to orphans in Africa, and finally a trip to an orphanage later in the summer. I felt the calling to respond to the first two events, and I didn't even ask Scott- he asked me if we should go!
We attended the seminar and heard from those who have adopted, ladies representing different agencies and organizations, and some other informational items. Scott and I talked, I researched, and felt a leading towards Honduras. I did more research into the agency which spoke to us, and was disheartened to hear that our plans to conceive another child were not in accordance with their regulations. While on a Honduran adoption board, I looked into other agencies that worked with Honduras. There are not many. I checked out two which were no-gos (having potential of 4 children was not good for them), and then I spoke with another agency. They embraced me, and my/our quest to adopt on orphan. They were kind, and said even if I ended up pregnant with twins the adoption process would proceed. She said their goal was to find loving homes for orphans and were not concerned with family size. Hooray! They have been quite communicative and helpful, and in the talks I have had our country of interest has changed to Bulgaria! We have an application filled out, and a phone conference set up for Wednesday which Scott, myself, and a representative will all be present for. After the conversation I hope to send in the application with the first $ to leave our hands. We will then be in full on mode!!
Prayers are always appreciated. We will ask for more help later;)
