Well, it is relatively official, baby G is here for the long haul. Three separate people involved have mentioned "at least a year", so mentally I am going with that but taking things week to week. It has been an excellent week, and baby is fabulous. She loves attention, and not just being held, but loves when people talk to her, make faces, and she just lights up and smiles and coose and laughs. She rolls from back to front, and loves to sit up/face out to see what is going on in the world around her. She sleeps decent, but once she wakes for her bottle 3 or 5 am she does not want to go back in her crib as she thrashes around the best one can when wrapped in a swaddling blanket, and spends the rest of the night in our bed where she sleeps great! I can't complain, and all the kids love her and dote on her. Everett was so excited he brought her to show and tell at school:)
Wednesday was interesting as I met bio parents. BM decided to attend the visit when it was over, so got to see a very tired screaming baby for 2 minutes before I took her home. BF was very polite to me.
The 5 day hearing was Thursday and neither parent showed up, so it was ruled she stays with me for the time being. We are okay with that! Looking forward to baby's first Christmas together, and providing her lots of love and a head start on life, wherever it may take her. I was going to type "providing her with a lot of good memories", but sadly she will not remember this next year of her life, even though it is such an important one. So I will document her days and weeks so she can have them in the future, and know she was wanted and loved and cared for.
Monday we meet with her official social workers going forward, and hope to get things all sorted out so we will know what kind of schedule we are working with for visitation, etc. This will be a journey WE remember!
